Official Spokesperson for Covid-19 updates, Mr. Mabrouk Azeez says two individuals who had tested positive for the virus here in the Maldives have been discharged after recovering from the illness and would now be allowed to depart back to their country.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Mabrouk said the two individuals were from Italy and that they tested positive for the virus while holidaying in Sandies Bathala resort. The married couple had been receiving treatment from Dharumavantha hospital.

Mr. Mabrouk said the couple was scheduled to travel back to Italy tomorrow and that they would remain at the hospital until their departure.

Mr. Mabrouk also said that as of 4pm this evening, 1443 samples have been taken here in the Maldives and that 1364 samples tested negative for the highly contagious virus. He added that there were 51 pending samples.

Nineteen samples have tested positive for the virus here in the Maldives with 13 people having recovered from the illness.
