Official Spokesperson for Covid-19 related updates Mr. Mabrouk Azeez says Maldives Ports Limited MPL have offered respites to importers as the Covid-19 crisis takes its toll on all the sectors of the economy.
Addressing the media today, Mr. Mabrouk said MPL has decided to reduce the demurrage fee for Male’ and Hulhumale importers by 20 percent. He added that MPL also decided to reduce storage demurrage fee for Hdh. Kulhudhufushi and Addu City Hithadhoo by 50 percent.
Mr. Mabrouk said that importers could now store their goods for free for two additional days and that MPL has also decided to reduce the license fee for bonded warehouses by 50 percent.
Maldives Ports Limited has taken several measures to aid businesses impacted by the covid-19 crisis. It has also said the company’s top management will take a pay cut of 20 percent to help minimize the economic impact of Covid-19.
