Male City Council says only two mosques will facilitate funeral prayers in Male City at this time.
City council said during this time funeral prayers would be held in ‘Aa Sahara’ mosque in Male’ and the mosque at Hulhumale’ cemetery. It also said funeral prayers would be held at these two mosques alone until 28th of March. City council said funeral prayers would be held 30 minutes after the call of prayer. City Council also advised that funeral prayers and burial ritual should be completed as soon the corpse is brought to the cemetery.
With more than three hundred thousand people infected with the Covid-19 virus worldwide, the government has banned crowd gathering and also instructed mosques to stop having prayers in processions. These are all measures taken to establish social distancing among the civilian population by the government.
Thirteen people have so far been tested in Maldives with three declared cured of the virus.
