Villa Group's tourist resort Paradise Island has come under lockdown following multiple individuals getting diagnozed with suspected symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
President's Office Under Secretary and official spokesperson on COVID-19 development in Maldives, Mr Mabrouk Abdul Azeez confirmed the update on Thursday afternoon during a press briefing.
According to Mr Azeez, a total of ten individuals from the resort have been isolated for showing suspected symptoms of the virus; these include 08 locals and 02 expatriates.
The resort is currently being monitored by health authorities, and has been imposed with a lockdown.
Paradise Island Resort becomes the latest addition into the list of avenues where the disease was discovered; which includes Kuredu Island Resort, Sandies Bathala Resort and Anantara Dhigu.
Meanwhile, the presence of the virus in the island nation has pushed Maldives government to take stricty safety measures, thus by imposing travel restrictions on several countries.
The island nation is currently suffering its worst drop in the tourism industry in recent history.
Earlier, Villa Group announced it will be temporarily shutting down all of its resort properties with the exemption of Paradise Island Resort in light of the visible drop in tourist arrivals to Maldives.
