The Maldives government announced it will be temporarily ceasing gateway entrance for travelers from three European countries starting from 00:00hrs on 15 March 2020.

According to the Maldives state, travelers from Spain, Germany and certain parts of France will be restricted from entering the island nation. The restriction is temporary, in light of the fast spreading COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Maldives have already prohibited entrance for China, two provinces of South Korea, Bangladesh and another European destination; Italy, where the pandemic has been spreading at an alarming pace.

The island nation on Saturday has confirmed the number of positive cases of COVID-19 has increased to 10.
