The Maldives Police Service has made arrangements for complainants to seek updates on the development of their lodged cases at the authority via SMS.
The move specifically endorsed by the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, comes in a bid to avail the long elapse of time for complainants without receiving substantial updates regarding cases they lodge.
"Close to 17,000 cases a year are lodged to us. Complainants and victims deserve to know the progress of the case and have a better experience in their contact with our investigators," said Commissioner of Police.
"We have introduced a mechanism to keep members of the public more informed on case progress," Hameed revealed on the popular micro-blogging platform; Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
Previously, complainants are informed via SMS regarding the tasked investigation officers, case number and the date of commencement on any lodged cases.
However, the recent mechanism will allow complainants and victims to receive regular updates on any developments to the cases they are affiliated with.
