The parliament Speaker and MDP frontman Mohamed Nasheed has justified the low public attendance at the party's Friday evening rally.

According to Nasheed, the official campaign launch for the upcoming local council elections was attended by fewer party members and supporters due to pending public concerns which have not been addressed adequately.

Nasheed further opined he does not believe the state has been able to bring reasonable solutions to the public concerns.

However, the parliament speaker and Maldivian Democratic Party's frontman ensured the public concerns will be heard and addressed in the coming days, while he assured the prolonged issue of affordable housing will be provided with solutions.

Following the relatively low attendance to the party's rally on Friday evening, the lowest recorded in recent days, many claim it was evident on the party's waning popularity.
