The Minister of Tourism Mr Ali Waheed has come to the media limelight and public scrutiny following a series of audio clips leaked on popular micro-blogging platform Twitter since last Saturday.

The minister was heard engaged in discussions which clearly indicate involvement of corruption and 'shady' deals, while in another clip he is heard making derogatory sexual comments on a female through a phone a call.

The female on the phone's receiving end has been allegedly believed as Minister of Transport Ms Aishath Nahula.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism, who is one among the most outspoken cabinet ministers of the country, claimed the leaked audio clips were unauthentic and urged an open investigation on the matter.

Minister Ali Waheed kept his stance, claiming this was a politically motivated attempt to derail his commitment as the tourism minister and tarnish his reputation.

Ali Waheed appeared confident as he claimed the clips will be found unauthentic post an open investigation.

The series of audio clips, by an unknown apparent whistleblower, has been posted on Twitter under the handle @LeaksMV.

In the first audio clip, the individual who is allegedly believed as Minister Ali Waheed is heard berating his cabinet ally Abdulla Ameen, who is the Minister of Health.

Minister Waheed, according to the allegations over the clip, can be heard passing demeaning statements at Ameen while in the second clip he is heard claiming to derail the policies of Minister of Education Aishath Ali.

A third clip was released in which the said individual, believed as Minister Waheed was heard passing indecent comments to a female who was speaking to him through a phone call.

The alleged minister is heard attempting to make sexual advances through the call, and attempt to harass the female caller.

In a fourth audio clip, a discussion is heard between the Minister of Tourism and the Tourism Ministry's State Minister Assad Ali regarding a scandalous deal. Through their discussion, it is heard an attempt will be made in taking a 'cut' of MVR800,000 through undercutting the duties imposed on a set of automobiles imported to Supreme Court.

A fifth audio clip was released as well, where the Minister and a group of men are heard discussing over their plans to party and visiting brothels.

Since the release of the audio clips, the Minister of Tourism has been tossed into hot water while many believe the person heard in the clips were actually the minister himself.

However, Minister Waheed along with State Minister Assad Ali has since denied the allegations claiming the audio clips were forgeries.
