The Deputy Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) - the main opposition of the island nation - has accused ruling party's administration of presenting a bill on creating corporate competitiveness with a murkier motive.
According to the opposition party's deputy and current Naifaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Shiyam, the state intends to 'cut a deal' with India's tech corporation Reliance Communication through ruling party parliamentarians lobbying for the move of bill on corporate competitiveness.
The lawmaker further noted the island nation was currently treading through dangerous circumstances, adding Maldives was under the control of its neighboring ally; India.
MP Shiyam has accused the state of already proceeding ahead with finalizing a deal with Reliance Communication, and introduce them as the third telecom provider to the country.
He has claimed the state has been deceiving public in the pretext of Maldives lacking a healthier corporate competitiveness amongs telecom providers. MP Shiyam also added Reliance is brought through careful planning.
The opposition party's deputy further suspected India's collusion in bringing an end to former president Abdulla Yameen's regime. Shiyam argued this has tossed Maldives under the hands of it's South Asian ally-turned-controller.
