Minister of Construction Abdullah Muthalib has confirmed that the government is on the verge of beginning the project to convert part of Male's longest road, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, to a four-lane road.
On a post x, the Minister said that to begin the work on the project, authorities have closed off parts of the road near the official jetty and the local market and made changes to the traffic routes near these areas.
The Minister also said that the lagoon near the area has also been closed off for public use.
Minister Muthalib apologized for the inconveniences caused by the changes and requested the public to cooperate with the authorities.
Boduthakurufaanu Magu stretches across Male' and the part on the north side of the island capital is unusually busy as the area houses the fish market and the local market.
The project is being carried out by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, MTCC, and Male' City Council said that the road and lagoon would be closed till October this year.
