The Vilimale' constituency lawmaker Ahmed Usham has urged against provocative talks that would incite conflict with regards to matters related to housing.

The lawmaker's jab is a direct shade at controversial MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain), who fell into hot water following derogatory comments made during an interview on Raajje TV.

MP Shaheem drew parallels between the plight of Male' citizens with the conflict-ridden Palestine and the plight of its people.

In his rebuttal, MP Usham noted the issue of housing is one of the most pressing matters the country has been facing for years, with several families tied in dire and unfortunate circumstances over insufficient or lack of state care in the provision of adequate housing.

Moreover, the MP had criticized all the previous administrations claiming they had failed in their pledges to solve the crisis of housing.

Meanwhile, MP Shaheem has been accused on social media platform for publicly inciting divisiveness among the people. Many had criticized the lawmaker for his segregationist ideologies.

The issue of people from Male' and people of other islands, have long since been used as political tools in creating a sense of separation and boost hatred within the community by political stakeholders for years.

However, such issues do not receive prolonged discussions nor are they addressed in a progressive fashion.

At a time when the country is facing impending changes to its socio-economic structure with the possible implemenation of the Income Tax and setting up a minimum wage, talks have started to surface on landlords of Male' City deliberately hiking rent on apartments.

Meanwhile, public scrutiny has been directed towards every administration for favoring political affiliates and the rich while awarding housing.
