The Department of National Registration (DNR) has temporarily ceased their services of updating National Identity Card details over information amendments.

The authority has confirms the decision was made after voters list have been submitted to the Elections Commission of Maldives for the upcoming Local Council elections.

However, if the personal information of individuals above the age of 18 have been changed, they are required to submit the application to DNR before 15 January 2020.

DNR will be temporarily ceasing their service of information renewal on national ID cards from 16 January for the purpose of elections.

Moreover, DNR notifies the decision was made such that no Maldivian citizen will lose their right to cast vote.

Local Council elections are scheduled for 04 April 2020 and a total of 980 councilors are expected to contend in the elections.
