Jamiyyath al-Salaf has warned the Speaker of the People’s Majilis and former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed to be careful of his words.

The group relayed the warning in their statement issued following Nasheed’s comment in the Majilis regarding ‘Moscow’ Ali Jaleel and Jamiyyath al-Salaf.

In their statement, Jamiyyath al-Salaf reminded Nasheed that every human will witness a day on which he will be Questioned for every word he spoke on Earth.

The group also conveyed the message to Nasheed’s fellow parliamentarians as well.

Jamiyyath al-Salaf blamed Ali Jaleel and his fellows for falsely accusing intellects in the group and other parts of the country to be Kafirs.

Stating despair in this regard, an upright person in a reputable position like Nasheed should not have spread false accusation and cause hatred in the community.

Speaking at the Majilis, Nasheed said ‘Moscow’ Ali Jaleel was the Maldivian bomber who attacked Inter-Service Intelligence Directorate headquarters in Lahore, Pakistan in the year 2009; adding that such an idea should not be born within a group or party in the Maldives.

The Majilis had already passed a motion urging relevant authorities to take immediate measures against all parties that reportedly committed criminal offences, including Jamiyyath al-Salaf, following the brutal murder of the religious scholar Dr. Afrasheem Ali. However in the sitting, Nasheed said abolition of Jamiyyath al-Salaf is highly unfavorable.

Salaf claimed that Ali Jaleel has never worked with the group.
