First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has emphasised that creating inclusive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities brings significant benefits not only to their families but also to the country as a whole.
She made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony organised by the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) to promote employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
In her address, the First Lady stated that integrating persons with disabilities into the workforce enhances their health, quality of life, and financial independence. She noted that building new friendships in the workplace offers emotional support, while encouragement and recognition from colleagues help strengthen self-confidence.
The First Lady further highlighted that engaging in structured practices and completing daily tasks cultivates strong personal and professional qualities. She described it as an important opportunity for individuals to develop their skills and broaden their capabilities.
The initiative aligns with the Administration’s policy to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
During the ceremony, the First Lady presented appointment letters to 30 newly recruited STELCO employees.
