Minister of Homeland Security & Technology Ali Ihusan says authorities are working to implement the recommendations made by the Presidential Commission that investigated the case of a young woman who was found on the rooftop of a house in Male' earlier this year.

Minister Ihsan was responding in writing to MP Mohammed Ibrahim's question on the police action in the case and the efforts being made to implement the Presidential Commission's findings.

The minister said the Professional Standards Command of the Police is conducting an investigation to determine the extent of negligence of individual police officers.

Ihsan said the police communication center procedures have been reviewed, and employees have been familiarized with the SOPs.

The minister also said that the commission has taken the statement of Daud Ahmed, who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.

The minister said the statements of others who met Raud Ahmed, who was in the building with Yumna that night, are also being taken.

The woman was found on the rooftop of Henveiru Mitaaz's house back in April, and the incident grabbed national headlines as many accused those accompanying her of pushing her onto the rooftop.

When the police investigation faltered, youth-led protests broke out in Male' over police negligence and corruption. This led President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to form the Presidential Commission, which concluded that there was no foul play in the incident and that the young woman fell onto the rooftop on her own.
