At least 10 people were killed and more than 30 others wounded in a suicide car bomb attack outside the headquarters of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps in Quetta, capital of Balochistan province, on Tuesday.
The blast occurred on Zarghoon Road near the paramilitary facility and was followed by heavy gunfire, officials said. Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed that two security personnel were among the dead, while the rest were civilians.
Security camera footage circulating online showed a vehicle turning toward the Frontier Corps compound before exploding within seconds. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as buildings and offices nearby were rocked by the powerful detonation.
“I was hit by shards of glass in my arm and back. The explosion was massive—my mind just went blank,” said Naresh Kumar, who was standing near his office close to the blast site. Another survivor, Inam, recalled hearing prolonged gunfire after the explosion before law enforcement secured the area.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, calling it a “terrorist act,” and said four attackers were killed by security forces.
President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the bombing, alleging the perpetrators were “acting on India’s agenda,” though he provided no evidence. India has not responded to the claim. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. (Source: AlJazeera)
