The foreigner who sustained serious injuries in the fire that was reported from Faafu Feeali last month has succumbed to his injuries.
The 40-year-old Bangladeshi man sustained the injuries in the fire that started on an oil-carrying vessel. The victim was initially treated on the island and than transffered to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male'.
The Hospital said today that the victim was receiving treatment while on the ventilator when he succumbed to his injuries last Monday.
The fire that started on the oil-carrying vessel spread further and burned four boats and the ice plant on the island. The fire also destroyed part of the island's fuel shed.
It took the authorities 3 hours just to get the blaze under contol and more time to extinguish it.
