More than 7,000 people have signed a petition calling for justice for the 21-year-old woman who was found on the rooftop of a house in Male' on the 18th of this month.

The petition titled "Justice for Yumnu: Investigate Her Fall and Expose Corruption in the Maldives" was started a day ago by a user named 'Sha Ismail'. Currently, it has collected around 7,145 signatures.

Yumnu is currently in critical condition in the hospital, on a ventilator and unable to speak, with severe brain injuries. There are growing concerns that those responsible for her fall may now be attempting to finish the job by ensuring she does not survive to expose the truth. Reports suggest that her safety in the hospital is at serious risk, and her family is being denied transparency and support.

The petition comes amid a series of youth-led protests in the capital Male' demanding justice and full disclosure in the investigation into the fall of the woman. The protests, which began last Wednesday, have been held for three consecutive nights, and more and more young people have joined the so-far peaceful protests every night.

Police initially ruled out any foul play in the case and stated that the woman had fallen from the 9th floor of the adjacent building on her own. However, a day later, youths staged a protest near the police headquarters in Henveriu. the Police released CCTV footage of the woman before she had allegedly fallen from a window on the 9th floor of H. Fentonia.

The footage showed that the woman and another man entered the house (Fentonia) on their own before having sexual relations on the stairwell of the house which police said had no connection to either of them.

Police also arrested 21-year-old Raud, who was last seen with the woman, was arrested last week and he was remanded in custody for five days by the Criminal Court.

Social media accounts are alleging that the girl was thrown off the building and that Police are working to cover up for those responsible for her fall.
