The Councillor for Maafanu North West Constituency, Mohamed Areesh, has been appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Male' City.
He was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of the capital city after the former Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh resigned from the post as well as the Male' City Council.
Areesh was elected to the post at the 188th official general meeting of the fourth term of the city council held today.
No other member except Arish contested the post, and a show-cause vote was taken.
He was elected with the full support of 16 members present.
Areesh won the seat of Maafannu North West Constituency as an MDP candidate. However, he signed for the ruling PNC last January.
