Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdullah has announced that the MP for Hithadhoo Central Constituency Ahmed Azaan Marzooq has been dismissed from two parliamentary committees.

The Committees include the Public Accounts Committee and the Security Services Committee.

At the start of today's session, the Speaker said that MP Azaan has been replaced with other MPs. MP for Henveriu North Constituency Ahmed Aifan, who represents PNC in the parliament, was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee.

Also, MP for Villimale Constituency Mohamed Ismail (PNC) was appointed to the Security Services Committee.

The Speaker also said that MP Azan has been appointed to the petition committee and the Committee on Members' Privileges and Ethics.

MP Azaan's dismissal from the key committees came after he refused to vote in favour of the Amendment brought to the Judicature Act, which cut down the Supreme Court bench from 7 to 5.

He said he did not consider the decision of the Parliament to remove two judges from office as legally objectionable.

MP Azaan reaffirmed that he remained with the ruling government despite the set back.
