Suspended State Minister of the Tourism Ministry Mohamed Nihad has been transferred to the Finance Ministry.
Nihad was appointed as a State Minister at the Finance Ministry. He was appointed to the new post on Thursday and he started to report to the office yesterday.
Nihad was suspended a month ago for alleging that the main opposition party was planning a terrorist attack against international brands of resorts in the Maldives. He made the allegations while speaking at a party meeting held by PNC.
Both PNC and MDP condemned his comments.
Nihad joined the PNC in late 2023 and served as a member of the 19th Parliament. He was appointed as the State Minister of Tourism on July 6 last year.
