Police say they have received a report of the robbery at the office of Gaafu Alifu Thinadhoo Council.
Speaking to 'The Press', a police official said that the report came in earlier today and that Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Police also said that initial findings do not show that a robbery had occurred at the scene but that they are further investigating the case.
In a post on its Facebook Page, the Thinadhoo Council said they had been robbed by individuals impersonating officials from the Anti-Corruption Commission ACC.
The Council said that the Police are now investigating the incident and because of the incident the Council has been forced to halt some of its services.
In addition, photos released by the council show files and other equipment thrown on the floor of the council office. When The Press contacted the Thinadhoo council for further details, the council said there was no one available.
The ACC raided the Thinadhoo City Council office yesterday in connection with an alleged corruption case against Thinadhoo City Council Mayor Saud Ali.
