Maldives Immigration says it has deployed its Enforcement and Compliance Division to monitor areas where foreign nationals often congregate amid a recent trend of violence among them.

Immigration has begun to look into such areas because of recent public disturbances among foreigners gathering in public places.

Immigration said that monitoring will be conducted in a series to prevent the repetition of such acts that endanger the public interest.

It further said that if any case of illegal immigrants is identified during these activities, the task force will take action against such immigrants.

Recently, there has been an increase in violence between foreigners, and fighting in such cases is trying to destroy the public interest.

The Immigration Department has decided to deport three people involved in a fight between foreigners on Artificial Beach on the 17th of this month.
