President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says corruption can only be stopped if all involved in such cases are treated equally under the law.
He commented after the prosecutor General canceled the immunity agreements made with several key suspects of the MMPRC scandal including former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
The President said that he welcomes the Prosecutor General’s decision to cancel the agreements made by the former Prosecutor General to grant various privileges to some persons in the MMPRC scam and not to prosecute them further.
President Muizzu also said that the scourge of corruption that has plagued this country for a long time can only be eradicated if all those accused of involvement in such cases are treated equally by the law.
Yesterday, the Prosecutor General canceled the immunity agreements made with 4 individuals. In addition to Adeeb, they also include Ahmed Ishfah, Mohamed Allam Latheef, and Mohamed Hussain.
The prosecutor said the agreements were canceled to continue the investigation into the MMPRC fraud case and to seek cooperation in the recovery of money lost to the state.
