The Education Ministry has informed secondary-level schools that all the students currently studying in grades 8 and 9 will sit for their O'level exams next year.
In a circular sent to the Schools signed by the Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafiu, the Ministry said that changes brought to the academic calendar have also brought up changes to the secondary school examination.
The circular said that for students currently studying in grade 8, their O'level exams would be held in October/November 2026.
It also said that students currently studying in grade 9 will sit for their O'level exams in February/March 2026. It noted that no changes have been brought to the exam dates for students currently studying in grade 10 and that they would sit for their O'level exams in May/June this year.
The Ministry also informed the schools that starting next academic year, the O'level exams would be held in October/November of each year.
The start of the academic year have been changed twice in the last 6 years.
