A man who was injured after being hit by a landing craft while out swimming near Dharumavantha Hospital in Male' has succumbed to his injuries.
His death was confirmed by the police.
Police said that the man was a 55-year-old man and that they were further investigating the incident.
The man was pulled out of the waters by MTCC staff near the area. Police also assisted in rescuing the man from the sea.
The man was then rushed to the hospital where he is still being treated.
Police cited the hospital to say that the man was being treated for a head injury and that he was injured after being hit by a vehicle or vessel.
They did not give out any information about the incident but said that they were investigating the incident.
The waters outside of Dharumavantha Hospital is frequently used by vessels and high-speed launches that travel to and from the capital Male'.
