The Vice President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Abdul Salaam and its member Thoha Mohamed have resigned from their posts amid serious allegations of corruption against them.

When questioned, Abdul Salaam confirmed to 'The Press' that he had submitted and emailed his resignation letter to the President's Office.

Their resignation comes after the Parliament's State-Owned Enterprises Committee voted to remove the two members from their posts on the ACC.

The motion to remove them was proposed by the Chair of the Committee and MP for Maafushi Constituency Husaain Riza who accused the duo of working for their gain.

The motion has made 9 accusations against the resigned ACC members.

This includes creating departments and appointing favoured employees as heads of the departments as well as encouraging ACC members to wrap up some cases in the ways they want.

The duo who resigned were also accused of taking a leading role in filing a case against a former Attorney General for lack of sufficient evidence to prosecute him even though there was ample evidence to file charges.
