Maldives Airports Company Limited MACL, which operates the Velaana International Airport VIA, has warned travelers of heavy traffic at its terminals due to the arrivals of local Hajj Pilgrims starting today.
MACL advised travelers using VIA in the next few days to arrive early for their flights to avoid confusion and inconveniences. MACL also advised travelers to follow the instructions given by airport staff for a smooth experience.
Maldives Hajj Mission shared on social media that flights carrying local pilgrims would arrive on four different days. The first flight is set to land today while the next flight is scheduled to land on the 28th (Friday).
The Mission said that 296 pilgrims would return home on the first flight today.
The Mission said that the remaining two flights have been scheduled for next with one arriving on the 2nd of July (Monday) and the final flight carrying Maldivian pilgrims arriving on the 4th of July (Thursday).
