Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu says a 'cool school' would bring happiness to the hearts of students and bring about positive changes to their discipline.
The Minister made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the 'Cool School' project through which the government is planning to install an air conditioner in every classroom in the country.
The project was inaugurated at the Kaafu Maafushi school earlier today.
In his speech, Minister Shafeeu said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu decided to initiate the project following his trips to the island through which he listened to the concerns of the residents including students.
He said that the President recommended that 30 percent of the project should depend on renewable sources of energy and that he made this recommendation as the cost of the electricity bill would be 38 percent higher than the cost of the whole project.
The Minister outlined that the 'cool school' project would create a fun, happy environment that would improve disciplinary issues and would stay away from negative behaviors like bullying and rivalry.
The Minister responded to questions about the high cost of the project and said that in the eyes of the President, any investments made in the education sector can never be a waste. However, the Minister did not detail the costs of the project but insisted that the administration would never falter to fund the needs of the students and assured that this project would be conducted in a sustainable manner.
