Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed says the Ministry has instructed all the mosques to resume reciting Qunoot in solidarity with the plight of Palestinians.

In a post on X, the Minister said that the mosques would be instructed to start reciting the special dua after Maqrib prayers today and would continue on Fajr prayers.

The Minister said that Muslims are one body and this heartbreaking time for the Islamic Ummah is a time for sincere prayer.

This comes as a turnaround of the decision the Ministry had taken back in February by announcing that it has instructed the mosques to stop reciting Qunoot in solidarity with Palestine.

Qunoot-e-Naazilah is recited whenever the Muslim Ummah faces a major catastrophe or crisis.

The Israeli regime has been continuously bombing the Palestinian enclave of Gaza since last October. The latest death toll stands at 36,615 Palestinians killed since October 7.
