Police have today arrested a foreigner who attacked two airport staff near the check-in counter of Velana International Airport.
Police said that a man was arrested for the incidents at the airport earlier today. Police did not give any more information about the suspect, including his nationality, but said they were further investigating the incident.
Videos of the incident circulated on social media which showed the foreigner punching a male staff from the airport. Another airport staff reacts to the punch by confronting the foreigner who turns around and pushes the second airport staff on to the floor.
But before the situation escalates another person who appears to know the foreigner drags him away from the scene. Airport Security staff are also on the scene but seem not to do anything to de-escalate the situation.
A crowd of people gathered around to witness the scuffles.
