Police say they are investigating whether more victims were scammed by Megatron Motors with the promise of importing vehicles.
They said that the Economic Crime Department of the police was investigating the allegations of a scam made against Megatron Motors Maldives Wave International and that the investigation wanted to rule out any more victims of the scam.
Police requested any victims of such a scam to contact their investigative officers via 9700048. Police clarified that victims would be those who had paid for vehicles to be imported from abroad and are yet to receive their purchased product from the company.
Vehicle sale fraud and scams are also growing common in the Maldives with such cases prosecuted in the country.
Such cases include the promise to purchase vehicles like Buggies, pickups, and cars.
