The Parliament's Human Rights Committee has confirmed that it would probe the bullying incident that surfaced from Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo last night.
In a disturbing video on social media, a young boy is seen being verbally and physically abused by two other young boys. During last night's Tarawih prayers, the video was shot at a toilet in a mosque on Rasdhoo.
Authorities have said that they are aware of the video and that they have now identified the boy's tormentors. They said that the alleged tormentors include a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy.
Police have asked people not to share the video and circulate it on social media as the scenes are difficult to watch and could harm the dignity of the child.
They also said that authorities are providing Psychosocial support to the victim.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Parliament's Human Rights Committee MP for HInavaru Constituency Jeehan Mahmood said that the Committee will probe the incident and that the Chair would submit the motion for the probe.
