President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says he wants to implement the decentralization system in its true sentence and not just on paper.

He said this while speaking to the residents of Meemu Mulak while on a trip to three Atolls.

President Muizzu said that he wants to work closely with the people and to include them in the process. He said that work must be repeated if the government or ministries ignore the say of the people in framing services related to them.

The President said that he has collected information from residents on what they want from their councils and that too for this reason. He further said that this would further empower the council and the women's development committees.

President Muizzu said that he wants to actively implement the decentralized system and change how the system is still just sentences written on paper and make it more effective.

He said that collecting the information from the councils has been enlightening and that he plans to make visits to all the islands of the country this year.

The President also said that he plans to make such trips to all the islands of the country in 2026 as well and that he aims to visit each island twice during his 5-year term.
