Former President Abdullah Yameen says he has no hope over the fact that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is working hard to free him from his jail sentence.

The jailed ex-leader who has been under house arrest since President Muizzu was elected said this while speaking at a rally held by the People's National Front to unveil their pledges for the upcoming Parliamentary elections.

Yameen said that the President can afford simple rights to him instead of freeing him and that the President has failed to deliver them too. He said that he had no expectations of the President working to free him from jail.

Yameen said that he has no qualms over the failure to free him from the jail sentence and that though his appeal hearings have been delayed, he was confident that he would be able to overcome them.

Freeing the former leader of PPM is one of the key pledges President Muizzu made during his Presidential Campaign. He had also promised to remove any influence on the judiciary and ensure that justice is served in Yameen's case.

The former President is serving an 11-year jail sentence after he was found quilty of money laundering and accepting bribes over the sale of Vaa Aaarah back in 20022.
