Police say a taxi had crashed into the poles installed on the Hulhumale' Highway for the solar panels on the side of the road earlier today.
They said that the report of the accident came in around 08:45 a.m.
Police said that the taxi driver had been injured in the crash and was being treated at Hulhumale' Hospital.
They added that they were further investigating the incident.
This is the second accident this month that involved a vehicle crashing into the solar panels installed on the Hulhumale' highway. In an accident report on the 2nd of this month, a car crashed into the panels on the side of the road. Though no injuries were reported, both the car and solar panels sustained damages in the crash.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promised to remove the solar panels that line the highway and move them some place else. The Environment Ministry estimates that this would cost around MVR 170 million.
