President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says true justice for the jailed ex-President Abdullah Yameen would be fair to him and the whole nation.

The President said this while speaking at a meeting with residents of Hithadhoo and Feydhoo of Addu City last night.

Noting that the country must maintain its stability, the President said that no one should have to endure political injustices. He said that the country has been witnessing how former Presidents are arrested once a new administration takes over but insisted that he would not be repeating such actions.

He said that there was no one he would arrest for political reasons. The President said that the country can only maintain its stability when all its political leaders are allowed to work freely and that delaying true justice for President Yameen was not how the country will maintain its harmony.

The President said that justice must be served in Yameen's case and the delay in justice means that he has been denied justice. The President further said that the former President must get justice through the judiciary system and assured that this administration does not influence the judiciary.

President Muizzu said that he hoped Yameen would receive true justice through the system and that no one from this administration would obstruct that process.

Freeing the jailed ex-President has been one of the most notable Presidential pledges of President Muizzu and he has been receiving criticism for not fulfilling this pledge despite being in power for more than 3 months.
