Commissioner of Police Ali Shuaju has confirmed that Police have arrested two suspects for assaulting the Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem yesterday.
The PG was attacked with a blunt object while he was out on his morning exercise routine by two men on a motorcycle on Wednesday morning and the PG suffered a fracture on his arm.
At a news conference today, the Commissioner confirmed that two individuals who are suspected of being involved in the attack has been arrested a short while ago.
The Commissioner said that the Police arrested the two from the Greater Male' Area and said that there still working to build a profile for the suspects.
He told the media that the attack appeared to be premeditated and that the assailants had covered their faces to hide their identity.
However, the Commission said that the Police used all the resources at their disposal to investigate the case as soon as they received the report of the incident and have now apprehended the individuals behind the attack.
Shujau said that he was unable to reveal more details about the case because of the nature of it and since the investigation is in its preliminary stage, he would not give any information that might undermine the investigation.
