The Government says it condemns in the strongest terms the attack given against the Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem earlier today.
The PG was attacked with a blunt object while he was out on his morning exercise routine by two men on a motorcycle. While no arrests have yet been made, the PG was treated for a fracture on his left arm at ADK Hospital.
In a statement, the government said that the government would use all the resources and power under its authority to bring those who are behind such acts of terrorism and violence.
The Government said that the security forces are always on alert to help prevent a repeat of such attacks. It also said that the security forces would do all in their power to ensure the protection of the individuals in the highest ranks of the government and state.
The government said that it is always working to maintain the security of the country and not a way to terrorist acts of violence. The government also wished the Prosecutor general a speedy recovery.
