Former President Mohamed Nasheed has announced that he has moved to Ghana, in West Africa.

Nasheed said in a post on x that he had arrived in the Ghanian capital of Accra to start work as the first Secretary General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum CVF.

The former President also said that since Ghana will be hosting the Secretariat of CVF, the West African country would be his home for a few years.

Nasheed said that CVF hopes to unlock the investments needed so its members can pursue clean growth and climate prosperity.

It has been a busy couple of days for the former President. Nasheed had recently gotten married to the great-granddaughter of a prominent Islamic Scholar in the country.

Nasheed and his bride Yumna Rushdhee had their wedding ceremony in Sri Lanka.

Last year, the former President announced that he would be taking a sabbatical from Maldivian politics as he intends to cement his career in the international area. Nasheed is still a member of the current Parliament representing the Central Mahchangoalhi constituency.
