The Government is set to launch the nationalism subject as part of the national curriculum at select schools across the Maldives.
Education Ministry has now selected and informed the schools that the nationalism subject would be initially launched tomorrow in a bid to promote patriotism and nationalism among students.
While introducing a national subject is a presidential pledge of this administration, the subject would be initially taught to students who are currently studying in grade 4.
Education Ministry is working to introduce the subject to all grades starting next academic year and it is also working with relevant agencies to train teachers and gather teaching resources for students.
The new academic year will begin in May of this year as the Education Ministry plans to shorten this academic year to start the academic year of 2026 in January as per the Presidential pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
