President of PNC, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to allow all the applicants who put their names forward for the PPM/PNC parliamentary primary to run in the internal election.

This comes after the Progressive coalition of PPM/PNC decided to reject some candidacies yesterday.

PPM/PNC rejected the candidacies of several prospective candidates stating that they had worked to create discord within the coalition and had not adequately served the parties.

These applicants and their supporters gathered at the PNC office last night and protested against the party's decision. They have also taken to Social media to vent their anger at the decision.

Sources have said that applicants' whose candidacy was rejected include those who voiced support for former leader Abdullah Yameen when left PPM/PNC and those who have joined the coalition for the parliamentary election scheduled for March.

Today, Chairman of PNC Abdul Raheem Abdullah said that the coalition has looked into the complaints submitted following its decision to reject the candidacy of some applicants.

He said that upon the review, PNC President, President Muizzu has decided to allow all the candidates who put their names forth to compete in the party primary.

The PPM/PNC coalition had said that only party members who submitted application forms before the 10th of December can compete in the primary and that the coalition would asses how much the prospective candidates have served the party.

The ruling coalition is expected to hold its parliamentary primary next Saturday after delaying the internal elections on several occasions.
