The dismissal of the employees of Fenaka in Dhihdhoo has been submitted to the parliament.
The motion submitted by the MP for Dhidhoo Constituency Abdullah Waheed said that 57 contract employees employed by Fenaka Corporation for the construction of the new power plant and ice plant in Dhihdhoo have been suddenly dismissed without giving any notice.
The employees and their families are very worried about the work of the power plant, he said. There are many complaints and concerns about the work of the power plant, he said. The sudden dismissal of the employees without notice will stop the work and cause great harm and poverty to the employees and their families.
Abdullah asked the government to refer the matter to the relevant committee of the parliament to investigate the matter and ask the Fenaka to keep the employees until the work is completed.
The employees protested yesterday.
A total of 70 contract employees have not been hired for the new power plant. The contracts of the employees have not been renewed due to the delay in the work of the power plant, he said.
