The government has decided to establish a company to ease the infrastructure workload being carried out by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC.
At a press briefing held at the President's Office just now, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said that several infrastructure projects being carried out by the government have been halted as MTCC has a huge backlog of work.
Nazim said this decision was made to ease the workload on MTCC and ensure that the services given to the public are not delayed.
He emphasized that the decision was not driven by the performance of MTCC by any means and MTCC has been one of the best-performing state-owned companies over the years.
In the last five years, MTCC has carried out hundreds of infrastructure projects as well as set up the Raaje Transport Link RTL ferry and bus services in different parts of the country.
