President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appears to issue a curtly worded jibe at India following the row between the two countries after deputy Ministers from his government mocked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The President today addressed the media following his state trip to China. While he gave his statement in the local Dhivehi language, he ended the press briefing with a sentence in English, seemingly aiming it at India.
President Muizzu said that Maldives may be small but that does not give anyone the license to bully the Maldives.
Though the President did not mention India in his press briefing, he announced plans to make the Maldives move away from being solely dependent on key services. This includes facilitating Aasandha abroad treatment from countries like UAE and Thailand and importing basic commodities from Turkey. He also announced plans to bring in medicine directly from Western manufacturers.
