President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, officially inaugurated the Zakat House of Maldives.
The establishment of Zakat House is a pledge by President Muizzu in his presidential manifesto.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Zakat House, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the establishment of the Zakat Fund is a very important step to uphold the third pillar of Islam.
He said that President Muizzu is the only president who has written about zakat in his presidential manifesto and made it a reality. Zakat is a pillar given a very high position in Islam and the Qur'an mentions it in many places, he said. The aim of the Zakat House is to raise awareness about Zakat and conduct scientific research on Zakat, he said. He also said that Zakat should be used according to certain rules and the rules of Zakat should be maintained in different parts of the country. Shaheem further urged the people to restore the country's national character and strengthen the Islamic identity of the country. He also called on the entire country to strengthen the ranks of unity and unite in its efforts to eradicate revenge and jealousy.
"Maldives Zakat House" was established by the President. Mohammed Muizzu was created on 18th last month. The agency is to be run under the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
A government agency named Maldives Zakat House was established for the purpose of strengthening the Zakat system in the country and developing the Zakat Fund to make the benefits of Zakat widely available to its beneficiaries.
