Maldives Airports Company Limited MACL says starting today, a new taxi drop-off point is in place at the northern corner of the Domestic Terminal of the Velaana International Airport VIA.

MACL said that the change would enhance the overall experience of the passengers using the domestic terminal.

The Company asked drivers to adhere to the road signage and follow instructions from their staff and police officers along the revised route. MACL said that this adjustment does not impact any existing passenger pickup, drop-off points, or accessible areas for any other vehicles on the island of Hulhule.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Managing Director, Ibrahim Sharif said that in the future, taxis will be available for departure passengers as well as arrival passengers. However, the arrangements will be made only after the completion of the roads under construction.

There will be no change in the normal taxi queue, Sharif said, adding that his top priority in the future will be to provide the easiest service to the airport users.

Domestic terminal drop-off can wait for 3 taxis at a time. Departing passengers can be taken by taxi to the domestic terminal, but they will have to go to the taxi queue at the airport. Previously, taxis from Malé and Hulhumalé to the airport stopped near the international terminal.

He said that MACL's management and employees will always continue to provide convenience to the customers.
