People's National Front PNF says 3,000 members have signed up for the party so far.
This was confirmed by one of the leaders within the newly formed party, former Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal. The Elections Commission gave PNF the permit to sign up members on the 29th of last month and Maleeh boasted that the party would collect 3,000 members, as required by law, within 24 hours.
But the party is yet to submit any forms to the Elections Commission and Maleeh said that the number of membership forms has reached 3,000. He said that the next stage would be to bring the forms from the islands and verify the information on the forms.
He added that the party wanted to include as many forms from the islands in the first 3,000 forms it submits to the Commission.
Maleeh said that PNF had not been able to submit forms to EC because the Party had not been able to acquire access to the electoral watchdog's portal.
PNF was formed after former President Abdullah Yameen decided to leave PPM amid a spat with the party's leadership.
