A motion has been submitted to the Parliament accusing the Utility Company Fenaka of terminating employees in the spirit of revenge.

The motion was submitted by the MP for Fuvamulah Central Constituency Hussain Mohamed Didi.

The motion stated that Fenaka was firing its employees upon the order of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and in the spirit of taking revenge.

It also stated that the motion intends to bring this to the attention of the government and bring a stop to the practice.

MP Hussain said that Fenaka was terminating low-level staff who would earn only around MVR 9,000 or MVR 12,000 per month. He added that this was unacceptable.

MPs from the opposition MDP who spoke during the debate on the motion said that though the President had promised that he would respect the work of the previous administration and give all employees equal opportunities, he had already broken this promise.

The MPs went on to say that this administration is a government that 'snatches' and said that it should be brought to its knees.

MPs who spoke in defense of the government said that MDP was talking about contract employees who had been let go because their contracts had expired.

MPs who spoke for the Democrats said that Fenaka's debt had ballooned up to MVR 3 billion and that it owes billions to the SMEs. The MPs said that contract employees were hired to campaign for MDP in the Presidential election.
