Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem says his office has collected enough evidence to convict all three charged in the murder of Naeema Moosa who was found dead in her home in Noonu Manadhoo last April.
Speaking at a news conference today, Shameem said that the PG Office has sent the charges made against the three to the Criminal Court today.
Three suspects have been arrested in relation to the murder and they have been identified as Azuham Abdul Shukoor, Abdul Wahid Rifash, and Hassan Favaaz from Noonu Manadhoo.
All three have been charged with committing murder with a sharp object, obstructing justice, and abusing a corpse.
Shameem said that the suspects were charged with obstructing justice because they had tried to destroy the items they used for the murder by burying them on the island.
He further said that they were charged with the abuse of a corpse because they had locked the door of Naeem's door from the inside before leaving after her murder and because of this the victim's family were only able to know of her demise 40 hours after her murder.
The Prosecutor General said that this would considered as abusing the body of a deceased.
Shameem said that the authorities have collected both scientific and DNA evidence against the suspects and based on the evidence collected it was likely that all three suspects would be convicted of all three charges.
